Laura Farmwald is an attorney at Biller & Kimble, where she represents workers in employment and wage-and-hour cases. She joined the firm in 2022 after building a litigation background on the defense side and as in-house counsel. Having represented companies in employment law, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation, Laura understands how businesses evaluate risk, defend claims, and make strategic decisions—experience she now uses to aggressively advocate for employees.
Laura is driven by two forces: competition and service. She is a litigator who enjoys the challenge of complex rules, tough opponents, and high-stakes disputes — but her motivation goes beyond winning. Laura’s work is rooted in the belief that the law should protect people whose interests are too often ignored by the powerful. Laura brings tenacity, discipline, and purpose to her representation of workers. Using those skills, Laura has recovered over $11 million in settlement awards from employers.
Outside the courtroom, Laura is always seeking new challenges. In her younger years she competed in triathlons and completed a half-Ironman (a 70.3-mile race involving 1.2 miles of swimming, 56 miles of biking, and 13.1 miles of running). After recovering from breaking both her feet simultaneously and undergoing multiple corrective surgeries, her fitness focus has switched to lower impact movement. She joined a barre studio and became a certified instructor, and now teaches barre classes.
She also serves her community through volunteer work with the Brighton Center, and by serving on the Board of Directors of Save the Animals Foundation. When she is not working, volunteering or teaching, to relax, Laura enjoys spending time with her spouse and dogs, hiking, traveling, horticulture, and cooking.
Approach
Laura spent years watching how employers and their insurers approach litigation—what they fear, what they exploit, and when they are bluffing. She crossed to the plaintiff's side because she wanted to use that knowledge for the people who actually need it. Her approach is straightforward: prepare harder than the other side, know their strategy better than they do, and never mistake a quick settlement for a good result. Defendants are often betting that workers will get tired or scared. Laura's job is to make sure that bet does not pay off.

Laura received her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2012) and graduated from Northern Kentucky University (2009).
